The North London Council of Mosques brings together masjids and Islamic centres across Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Islington, giving the region's Muslim community one voice.
Who we are
The establishment of the North London Council of Mosques is a significant achievement, bringing together masjids and Islamic centres across Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. NLCoM is registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and sits under our London-wide umbrella organisation, the London Council of Mosques CIC (LCoM).
NLCoM is a cohesive, inclusive organisation whose main aim is to strengthen the Muslim community's presence and influence in North London. Our members reflect a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, forming a rich tapestry within our community. A key aim is to maintain dialogue with other groups who share our values and have a stake in community cohesion.
Why NLCoM matters
In a changing city like London, a unified and authoritative voice is crucial. NLCoM is well placed to advocate consistently and effectively for the Muslim community, engaging with local authorities, government bodies and the media. Through this unity we make sure our shared concerns, from access to vital services to tackling discrimination, are recognised. Working together goes beyond what individual institutions can do alone and allows strategic action that benefits the whole community.
Goals and programmes
Our focus is on concrete, positive initiatives. NLCoM leads community-focused projects, including:
- Social welfare programmes

- Shared support for projects such as food banks
- Guidance on governance and safety measures
- Secure, inclusive spaces for young people
We are committed to working with all stakeholders in the area to encourage dialogue and improve quality of life for everyone in North London.
A vision for London
The formation of NLCoM is the first step towards an overarching London Council of Mosques CIC (LCoM). This future pan-London umbrella organisation aims to unite all the regional councils of mosques, promote harmony within our diverse community and give London's Muslim organisations a single, unified voice. LCoM will also connect mosques with government departments, local authorities and service providers such as the police and the NHS.
